"I was 52 when I enrolled in the beginning course, and I had genuinely never sat down to look at where my money was going. The account inventory exercise on week one was something I should have done years ago — but the course made it completely manageable. By week four I had a savings routine in place that I have kept up ever since."

"The full programme was a significant commitment of time, but I found the pace genuinely respectful. I appreciated that the educator did not assume we would all move at the same speed, and that questions from the group were welcomed rather than hurried past. The personal plan document I wrote in week fourteen is something I have already come back to twice."

"My main hesitation before enrolling was that I would feel embarrassed about not knowing the basics at my age. That turned out to be completely unfounded. The atmosphere in the group sessions was comfortable and the educator was good at answering without making anyone feel they should have already known. The content on Thai savings accounts was particularly useful — I changed two things about my banking setup based on what I learned."

"I completed the foundation course in January and am now enrolled in the full programme. Going through both feels like a natural continuation rather than starting over — the material builds sensibly. I particularly valued the section on reserve fund sizing, which is something I had vaguely understood I needed but had never actually worked out for my own situation."

"I am 47 and had spent a long time feeling that personal finance was something I would deal with eventually. The beginning course gave me a way to start that felt entirely manageable. I would say the cashflow mapping exercise was the single most useful thing I have done for my own finances in the last decade. It was revealing without being alarming."

"The mentor conversation I had in week twelve of the full programme was the most useful hour I have spent on my finances. I had a specific question about insurance that was not straightforward to answer from general material, and the conversation addressed it clearly and without sales pressure. That alone made the programme worthwhile for me."

Longer Accounts

Three participants who agreed to describe their experience in more detail, covering where they started and what changed.

The Starting Point

At 54, Malee had no savings routine, no clear picture of her household cashflow, and a vague sense of anxiety about money she had carried for years but not addressed. She enrolled in the full programme after her adult daughter suggested she look into it.

The Programme

Malee completed all fifteen weeks of the full programme over four months. She found the cashflow mapping module the most confronting and the most useful, and completed both optional mentor conversations, using the second to discuss her existing insurance arrangements in detail.

Six Months Later

Malee has maintained a monthly savings contribution to a Thai mutual fund since completing the programme. She reviewed her personal plan document after three months and adjusted one savings target. She describes the anxiety about money as "much quieter than it used to be."

The Starting Point

Somchai, 48, had a stable income from his own small business but had never established a savings practice separate from his business accounts. He was not sure how to think about personal finances independently of his business finances and enrolled in the foundation course to begin separating the two.

The Programme

Somchai completed the ten-week foundation course. He found the household records module most directly useful for separating personal from business finances, and the section on automatic contribution routines gave him a practical structure he had not previously considered.

What Changed

Somchai now maintains a dedicated personal savings account separate from his business accounts and contributes to it monthly via an automatic standing instruction. He has enrolled in the full programme in the following cohort to address later-years planning.

The Starting Point

Wilawan, 61, had recently retired and felt uncertain about how to manage her finances in a period of no regular income for the first time in over thirty years. She enrolled in the beginning course with very specific anxiety about making a mistake now that her financial position had fundamentally changed.

The Programme

Wilawan completed the six-week beginning course and then moved into the full programme. She found the later-years module directly relevant to her situation and completed both mentor conversations, using them to discuss drawdown from her existing savings in practical terms.

The Outcome

Wilawan describes having a much clearer picture of her financial position in retirement. She now reviews her personal plan document at her own quarterly pace and feels more confident making decisions. "I wish I had done something like this ten years ago — but I am very glad I did it now."
